Domino Records, simply known as Domino was founded in 1993, and headquartered in London.
Their main genres are post-punk revival, indie rock, rock, electronic, art pop, experimental, and folk.
Founded by Laurence Bell and Jacqui Rice, with their first label release called Sebadoh EP Rocking the Forest. The label's start-up capital consisted of a weekly £40 Enterprise Allowance Grant. In 1997 Domino released Pavement's landmark commercial breakthrough Brighten the corners, which was quickly followed by Elliot Smiths. In 1999 the debut album was realized by Will Oldham.
The Records rapidly expanded over the years, finding immense abilities in many artists, which have both critical and commercial success with the multiple signings of the Wild Beats, Villagers, Anna Calvi, and Jon Hopkins, which have all released albums shortlisted for the Mercury Prize and gained a significant audience.
In 2010's the company became international, with new offices in Wandsworth, Brooklyn, Berlin and Paris becoming and organised with releases by huge bands such as Artic Monkeys, The Kills and Blood Orange. Also developing singular artists with huge commercial success from the brands.
Domino Records has now grown into other areas of the music business, establishing a publishing company and a series of labels including Double six, creating horizontal integration.
Dominos has worked with, Geographic Music, Double Six Records, Weird Records, and Rekords Rekords. All working on joint ventures creating synergy on projects.
Dominos Records has advertised in many ways, mostly digital and through events, they also use to/do sell record labels in shops. Due to them having big artists, many people contact domino records due to their respectability.
Domino Records Distributes through Redeye (US) PIAS Group (UK & Ireland) Outside Music (Canada) and Hostess/Sony (Japan).
