Linear - The story is told from beginning to end.
Circular - The story starts at the end, then jumps back and works up to that point.
Non-linear - Can flash forward or back to scenes that actually take place in the past or future.
Episodic - Have sections, like chapters. This means they may not be in chronological order.
Fabula - The actual order of events in the story.
Sjuzhet - The order they're told in.
The hero's journey is a common narrative archetype, or story template, that involves a hero who goes on an adventure, learns a lesson, wins a victory with that newfound knowledge, and then returns home transformed.
